  • It’s a great year for college lacrosse in Rhode Island.
    Brown is ranked second and third in the two national polls and was undefeated before being upset in overtime, 11-10, on Tuesday night by the Bryant Bulldogs, who appear to be on their way to a fifth straight Northeast Conference title and fourth consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance.
    And then there’s fast-improving Providence College. With a full complement of scholarships for the first time in program history, the Friars had won four in a row, including an upset of 12th-ranked Hofstra, to take a 7-3 record into Saturday’s game at Big East rival Georgetown.
