UNCASVILLE, Conn – This is what the Providence Friars and their fans were afraid of.
Again not playing at full strength, the Friars were overwhelmed by the Houston Cougars Wednesday at the Mohegan Sun Arena, 70-59.
PC (8-4) struggled on offense most of the way, shooting 37 percent from the floor. When the Friar defense wilted for a few key stretches, the Cougars (10-2) built leads of as many as 21 points.
Providence cut that deficit to eight points with 2:33 to go but couldn’t push any further. Rodney Bullock led the Friars with 24 points.
