PROVIDENCE - Ed Cooley’s prescription for an NCAA Tournament berth will be pushed yet again next season thanks to another competitive non-league schedule.
The Providence Friars announced their non-league slate Tuesday with tests against Wichita State, South Carolina, Texas and the annual intra-state matchup with Rhode Island the highlights. Cooley has led the Friars to five straight NCAA tourney berths in large part to consistent success outside of the Big East. He’s frequently said that the road map to a berth comes in at least 10 non-league wins and 10 more in conference play.
That will be put to the test this coming season.
