Friars stay hot on recruiting trail, land S.C.’s Jimmy Nichols

Providence College’s 2018 recruiting class continues to grow.

On Tuesday, South Carolina forward Jimmy Nichols verbally committed to the Friars on WPDE-TV in his hometown of Myrtle Beach. According to 247 Sports, Nichols is the fourth-rated prospect in South Carolina. He chose the Friars after also considering staying home and enrolling at the University of South Carolina, which is coming off a trip to the Final Four. He also was recruited by Miami, Georgetown, Rhode Island, Arizona State, Nebraska and other schools.

Nichols averaged 16 points and 10 rebounds per game for Conway High last season and was voted Toast of the Coast boys basketball Player of the Year.
