PROVIDENCE – In between the meals and the bus trips and the four basketball games on their trip to Italy last week, Ed Cooley hoped his Providence College Friars found some appreciation for their historic surroundings.
Mission accomplished.
How did the coach know that his players understood the value of a trip of a lifetime? A side trip to a winery helped seal the deal.
During a break in the tour, Cooley and five of his players were part of a group that visited a winery outside Florence. After learning about the local vineyards and tasting a few Pinot Grigios and Chiantis, Cooley welcomed the reaction of everyone in the group.
