NEW YORK — Variations of a theme echoed throughout the Mecca of basketball on Thursday.
Unity. Togetherness. Solidarity. Brotherhood.
And to hear those who promoted the argument, it has been and will be the foundation of this year’s Providence Friars.
“The guys that came before us set a very high standard,” junior guard Alpha Diallo said during Big East Media Day at Madison Square Garden in New York. “Five straight NCAA Tournaments and we just want to continue that.”
And if the conference’s coaches are a barometer, the expectation is that the Friars will be more than merely competitive this season, even with the losses of Rodney Bullock, Kyron Cartwright, Jalen Lindsey and Tom Planek to graduation, and Dajour Dickens, who transferred to Old Dominion.
