PROVIDENCE – Just one look at the standings in the Big East these days screams out opportunity.
Save for Top 25 outfits Villanova (6-0) and Marquette (7-1), the remaining eight teams own either four or five losses. It’s currently a logjam of mediocrity but one that will eventually settle. Any team that scratches out a three or four-game winning streak can catapult itself into the top half of the standings and dramatically improve their NCAA Tournament chances.
That’s where the Providence Friars stand right now. PC (12-7, 2-4) is not currently on the NCAA radar, but the basketball calendar can’t even see March.
