PROVIDENCE — The Providence Friars are trying anything and everything to shake out of their early-season doldrums.
In recent weeks, several players have visited with a sports psychologist. It’s a service that Ed Cooley saw work wonders while he worked for Al Skinner at Boston College and he hopes for some similar success with a PC team that is limping into a nationally televised visit from the Texas Longhorns (9-1) on Saturday at the Dunkin’ Donuts Center.
Despite good practices and positive momentum heading into games, the Friars remain wildly inconsistent. That’s landed them in the back of the Big East with a 6-6 record and eagerly awaiting anything that can serve as a spark.
