PROVIDENCE – During every college basketball season, Mike Martin owns a perspective on the local scene unlike anyone else.
The Brown University coach scouts and prepares his team to face the Rhode Island Rams and Providence Friars every season. This season he’s joined only by the coaches at Massachusetts and Seton Hall.
That Martin’s Bears enter virtually every matchup with the Rams and Friars makes for stiff challenges against the two state rivals. When both foes own strong teams, it’s enough to cause the coach a few sleepless nights. After losing at the Ryan Center last week, 86-62, the Bears will be at the Dunkin’ Donuts Center Wednesday to face the Friars.
