Friars jump all over Hoyas, then hold on for 76-60 win/ VIDEO

PROVIDENCE – Now that’s an opener to build on.

Hoping for a fresh start after a troubling non-conference performance, the Providence College Friars jumped all over the Georgetown Hoyas and enjoyed enough of a cushion to survive a shaky second half and win the Big East opener for both clubs, 76-60.

The New Year’s Eve crowd at the Dunkin’ Donuts Center was treated to one of PC’s best offensive halves in years as the home team raced to a 54-23 lead at the break. The second half unfolded very differently as a 33-point lead melted to 14 but the Friars steadied the ship in time to hold on.
