Friars Journal: White plays like ‘Superman’ in scoring career-high 19

NEW YORK — Catching fire is a basketball player’s dream. Catching fire in the Big East Tournament on the game’s biggest hoop stage is a fantasy that Maliek White will never forget.

Like the rest of his teammates, PC’s junior guard struggled early but once he got rolling there was no end in sight. First with a layup in traffic and then with an impressive array of deep jumpers, White tossed in 13 first-half points and a career-high 19 in an 80-57 win over Butler at Madison Square Garden. White finished 8-of-11 from the field and 3-of-6 from the 3-point line to spark a Friar offense that blazed its way to 55-percent shooting.
