PROVIDENCE — After juggling a M*A*S*H unit over the six-week preseason, the Friars tipped off the season in relatively good health.
Center Nate Watson (knee sprain) was the only player unable to play in Tuesday’s opener against Sacred Heart. Watson injured his knee in the first few days of practice in late September and remains a ways away from returning to the practice floor.
The only other player who did not see time in the opener was sophomore Jimmy Nichols. He is healthy so his absence was apparently disciplinary.
The good news on the injury front was that freshman Greg Gantt was cleared to play.
