PROVIDENCE — After watching his team drop games in all sorts of ways, Providence College coach Ed Cooley was certainly pleased to see his group scratch its way to a victory.
In the last two weeks PC failed to close the door at home in losses to St. John's and Villanova and watched a win slip away in overtime at Seton Hall. Missed free throws, defensive breakdowns, loose balls or rebounds all combined to doom the Friars.
But in Saturday's 71-65 win over Butler, the Friars were the team that scratched out the little plays.
