PROVIDENCE — Ed Cooley told us there would be days like these.
Throughout the preseason and non-conference schedules, Cooley’s Friars flashed good and bad but the coach consistently stressed that his team’s youth was an obstacle it needed to collectively overcome. In its first Big East test, the team didn’t exhibit the poise and confidence a young group needs to find, and that added up to a 79-68 loss to Creighton.
In the locker room, Cooley said he stressed patience and no need to panic. The Friars will get another chance at a win against league power Villanova on Saturday.
