NEW YORK — Once the pain and reality hit the Friars that they won’t be dancing yet again next week, they instantly realized they had only themselves to blame.
If any of his players didn’t realize that their 18-15 record was filled with missed opportunities, coach Ed Cooley said he set everyone straight in a pain-filled locker room.
“Quite frankly, I was very direct with the team,” he said. “We earned exactly what we got this year. If we get into the NIT, I’ll be excited about it because I still want to play with this young group.
