PROVIDENCE — The nonconference chapter of Providence College’s season is finished.
The Friars are 9-4 entering their Big East slate, one that begins on Thursday at St. John’s. Providence warmed up for the most difficult part of its schedule with an 89-74 win over Sacred Heart in front of 6,452 fans at the Dunkin’ Donuts Center on Friday night. The Friars have battled injuries and some uneven performances but remain in position to reach a fifth straight NCAA Tournament, extending their program record.
“There are going to be no off nights,” Providence coach Ed Cooley said.
