Friars Journal: For PC’s big men, rebounding is an Achilles’ heel

PROVIDENCE — Just mention the word and Nate Watson’s face crinkles a bit.

Rebound.

It’s the word he hears most often from his coaches, teammates and anyone else looking to push the impressive freshman big man to greater heights. Halfway through his first collegiate season, the 6-10 center is clearly progressing by the week. His 20 points (on 7-of-11 shooting) at Creighton last Sunday was the best ray of hope yet that Watson is a budding star on Providence’s front line.

But the big guy needs to rebound more. In those 20 minutes in Omaha, Watson grabbed just one rebound.
