PROVIDENCE — Only a few years ago the old line about transfers in college basketball went that stooping to such a move only welcomes someone else’s problems.
Not anymore.
Check last season’s rosters at Kansas, North Carolina, Texas Tech, Michigan and Arizona. All of these national powers were buoyed by a key transfer or two.
Plugging in a vital transfer is all the rage virtually everywhere, and especially in the Big East. Last season at least seven of the 10 teams welcomed transfers with Villanova, Marquette, St. John’s and Seton Hall all advancing to the NCAA Tournament thanks to an added boost or two from the transfer wire.
