Friars Get a Big One at Marquette

Surviving a cold start. On paper, this seemed like a certain win for Marquette. The Golden Eagles were fresh off of consecutive victories over top 10 teams, including an upset of #1 Villanova their last time out. Providence entered Saturday’s game 0-10 all-time at Marquette, and they were facing one of the nation’s best three point shooting teams just days after being torched by a young St. John’s group.

A victory would have seemed even more inconceivable given Providence made just one field goal in the game’s first seven minutes and Rodney Bullock and Cartwright were held scoreless in the first half.
