PROVIDENCE – Newcomer Scott Conway scored a goal and added two assists and goalie Hayden Hawkey made 17 saves as 10th-ranked Providence College defeated Acadia University, 3-0, in an exhibition game at Schneider Arena on Sunday afternoon.
Referees Kevin Keenan and Jack Millea whistled 21 minor penalties -- including 10 for hooking and four for holding.
“It was a lot of special teams. It’s kind of disappointing because you want to get some other guys some looks that aren’t as involved in special teams, but that’s the way it goes,’’ said PC coach Nate Leaman. “The good thing is we got a better feel for the way games are going to be officiated this year and we got to see Hayden make some big saves.
