PROVIDENCE — Providence coach Ed Cooley is hoping the depth and flexibility on his roster can meet most of the defensive challenges that await in the Big East.
The Friars passed the first one on the schedule as the team’s frontcourt did its best to keep Georgetown’s Omer Yurtseven under wraps in a 76-60 victory on Tuesday. Using all 10 of their fouls, the center combination of Kalif Young and Nate Watson remained physical all night on Yurtseven. He came in averaging 18 points and 10 rebounds but was held to 14 points and 10 boards against the Friars.
