Former Providence College star Ron Wilson was elected to the U.S. Hockey Hall of Fame on Monday.
Wilson, 62, was an All-State defenseman at East Providence High School before enrolling at PC. After retiring as a player he went on to a long and distinguished coaching career.
He is the all-time winningest American head coach in NHL history, with 648 regular-season wins and 48 more in the Stanley Cup playoffs.
As head coach, Wilson guided the United States to a win in inaugural World Cup of Hockey in 1996.
Wilson is the fourth Friar to be elected to the U.
