DALLAS — Incoming Providence College freshman Jay O’Brien was excited about getting selected 19th by the Philadelphia Flyers in the first round of the NHL Draft at the American Airlines Center on Friday.
But he’s going to have to learn a little bit about how to win over the Flyers faithful.
When asked which current NHL player he models his game after, the 18-year-old might’ve made some folks in the City of Brotherly Love cringe.
“I like [Jake] Guentzel from Pittsburgh a lot,” O’Brien said about one of the Flyers’ most-hated villains from their most-heated rival.
