PAWTUCKET – After a lifetime of chasing his basketball dreams, Ruben Garces is ready to share some lessons at St. Raphael’s.
Garces, now 45 years old, starred at Providence College in 1995-97 and was a key piece in the Friars’ run to the Elite Eight in 1997. The native of Panama was a burly rebounding center who averaged 9.5 points and 7.8 rebounds in 1997 but that was only the start of his career.
Garces played one season in the NBA but enjoyed a 18-year professional career with stops around the world. He was a star on some of the best teams in Spain and France and also played in Argentina and Puerto Rico, among other countries.
