Eagles’ overtime winner forces Game 3 Sunday

PROVIDENCE — Logan Hutsko picked quite the time to snap a 19-game goalless drought.

The Florida Panthers third-round draft pick scored a spectacular overtime goal to give Boston College a 4-3 win over Providence College on Saturday night at Schneider Arena.

BC’s win tied the best-of-three quarterfinal Hockey East series at one game each after PC’s OT win on Friday. Game 3 will be Sunday at 5 p.m. at Schneider.

On the decisive goal, the puck was flipped into center ice from the BC end, where the speedy Hutsko caught up to it. He held off PC defenseman Jacob Bryson and flipped a forehand shot past Hayden Hawkey (23 saves) from close range just 23 seconds into overtime for his fifth goal of the season.
