PROVIDENCE — Search the Providence College record book, from A(rmy) to Z(ancanaro), and you won't find any trace of an on-ice rivalry between the Friars and the Fighting Irish of Notre Dame.
That's because the schools have faced off only nine times — ever — which is odd. Even though both schools had been playing hockey for decades, the first PC-Notre Dame game wasn't until 1999, a 2-1 Friar win at the Ice Breaker Tournament in Denver.
