PROVIDENCE — Just one look at the Big East standings these days screams out opportunity.
Except for top-25 outfits Villanova (6-0) and Marquette (7-1), the remaining eight teams have either four or five losses. It’s currently a logjam of mediocrity but one that should eventually settle out. Any team that scratches out a three- or four-game winning streak can catapult itself into the top half of the standings and dramatically improve its NCAA Tournament chances.
That’s where the Providence Friars stand right now. PC (12-7, 2-4) is not currently on the NCAA radar, but March is a long way away.
