PROVIDENCE - After keeping the Creighton Bluejays in check from the 3-point line for several seasons, the Providence Friars came up empty in this year’s Big East opener.
The Jays nailed 13 three-pointers, including 9-of-15 in the second half, to pull away from the Friars for a 79-68 victory. Ty-Shon Alexander led the Jays with 18 points, Martin Krampelj added 16 and Mitch Ballock canned five threes and finished with 17 points.
Providence didn’t play that badly on offense with Alpha Diallo leading the way with 18 points and 10 rebounds but the Friars couldn’t keep the Jays off the 3-point line.
