NEW YORK – The Providence Friars were knocked out of the Big East Tournament Thursday night thanks to a blizzard of turnovers and missed free throws.
The Friars turned the ball over a whopping 22 times and missed 12-of-26 free throws to pave the way for Creighton to pull out a 70-58 victory. The Bluejays (24-8) will face Xavier in Friday night's semifinals.
The Friars (20-12) will now face three long days of fretting over what still looks like their solid NCAA Tournament chances.
Kyron Cartwright led the PC with 15 points and Emmitt Holt added 14 but the Friars offense was stymied by team-wide awful ball handling woes.
