No matter what happened in the game, Ed Cooley won the war of words with Dave Leitao on Friday night.
Both coaches wore live microphones for the Fox Sports 1 telecast matching Providence and DePaul. Cooley was clearly more vociferous and colorful than Leitao from the opening tip.
Cooley had plenty to say to his team and his coaches even before the game began. With the players in the locker room he said “if we go zone, we’re going to ice the ball screens,” before he hit some specifics.
“Never ending talking- inspire each other. That has to carry over to the floor.
