PROVIDENCE — The last vestige of the old Big East Conference in Providence has set a moving date.
After first opening offices on South Main Street and then moving to Exchange Terrace, the Big East settled into a suite of beautiful offices in a building a 3-pointer away from the Amtrak station with a great view of the State House. Then everything fell apart.
The great expansion/greed fest that dominated collegiate sports from 2007-12 killed that version of the Big East. When the so-called Catholic Seven chose to leave the league in 2012, they scooped up the name but opted to set up shop with offices in New York City.
