The rise of Donte DiVincenzo into the upper reaches of last week’s NBA Draft will serve as inspiration around the Big East, including at Providence College.
After starting only 10 games as Villanova’s “sixth starter,” DiVincenzo won the Big East’s Sixth Man award this past season. He was viewed as a potent piece of the puzzle for the eventual national champions but until he exited the rough-and-tumble of conference play, the 6-foot-5 sophomore wasn’t on any NBA scout’s radar as a first-round prospect. Yet after surviving a 2-of-11, six-point struggle in an overtime win over the Friars in the Big East title game, DiVincenzo and the Wildcats took flight.
