A call for more well-rested, experienced game officials is about to be granted in four major East Coast college basketball conferences.
The Big East will join an existing officiating alliance with the Atlantic Coast Conference, Atlantic 10 and Colonial Athletic Association, the leagues announced Tuesday.
The alliance begins with the 2016-17 season and enables the four conferences to work together on all officiating matters, most importantly scheduling. The alliance will also serve to enhance training, development, recruitment, retention and feedback for its basketball officials.
