BC 3, PC 1: Friars frozen out at Fenway

BOSTON - Providence College and Boston College battled through the on-ice equivalent of a pitcher's duel at frigid Fenway Park on Sunday evening.

Good scoring chances were few and far between, but a power-play goal by BC's David Cotton with 3:11 left and a late empty-netter by Austin Cangelosi powered the Eagles to a 3-1 victory in a game played on an ice surface where puck-handling and passing were difficult.

Repairs to holes and ruts in the ice were needed throughout the game. With temperatures in the teens, the announced attendance was 19,547, though few stayed to the end.
