Bruno Lage has warned Newcastle that wealth alone will not be enough to crack the European elite as he takes his Wolves side to St James’ Park on Friday.
Newcastle are the richest club in the world following the £305million Saudi-backed takeover and have moved out of the relegation zone thanks to heavy investment in the January transfer window.
Though they have the spending power to take on any rival, Wolves boss Lage believes they will need more than that to make a significant breakthrough.
‘There are about 10 teams who dominate the game in the last 10 years,’ said the Portuguese.
