Winter break deal finally struck and will start in February 2020... and it means one EXTRA weekend of Premier League football as FA Cup 5th round moves to midweek to benefit England

A deal has been struck to finally introduce a winter break into the English football season, starting in February 2020.

The break, agreed between the FA, Premier League and Football League, will see players take the first two weeks of February off, according to The Times.

As part of the deal, the FA Cup 5th round will now be played entirely in midweek – breaking the strong tradition of weekend ties – and with no replays.

There will, however, still be some football during the period, as the break will be staggered between clubs.
