Socceroos great Robbie Slater has outlined why he believes the impressive showing of the Matildas at the World Cup won't change the complex football landscape in Australia.
Speaking on Fox Sports' The Back Page on Tuesday night, the Premier League title winner with Blackburn praised Sam Kerr and her teammates for their fourth-place finish - but stressed the code 'needs a lot of work.'
'It was a marvellous event. The whole thing, everyone played their part, and the Matildas brought so much joy to so many young players and young people who had never really been involved in the game, so fair play to them,' Slater said.
