West Ham have told the Football Association they will appeal the red card shown to Sofiane Feghouli during yesterday's 2-0 defeat by Manchester United.
The Hammers had until 1pm on Tuesday to register their appeal and informed the FA of their intention before midday.
The Algerian was sent off inside the opening quarter-of-an-hour of the game by referee Mike Dean for a lunge on United defender Phil Jones.
The collision was aggressive and at pace but it came to a surprise to everybody when Feghouli was dismissed by Dean.
