West Ham eyeing move for Russia captain Fyodor Smolov as club hierarchy look to heal the rift with fans

West Ham are reviving interest in FC Krasnodar striker Fyodor Smolov.

Co-chairman David Sullivan hopes a move for the Russia captain could go some way to thawing the cold war with West Ham's fans with the club perilously close to the relegation zone.

West Ham made an offer for Smolov in December but fell short of Krasnodar's asking price before switching their attention to other options.

However, Smolov, who speaks fluent English, is still keen on a move to London despite interest from Marseille and is waiting for West Ham to make their next move.
