Watford chairman Raffaele Riva is taking legal action against the business associate who supplied false financial information to the Football League.
Riva is poised to stand down from his role at the club as the EFL and Watford conduct an investigation into why a falsified bank document was used to provide proof of funds for a bank guarantee of £7million when Gino Pozzo became the club’s owner in 2014.
Riva asked a former friend and associate to provide the letter in question and has now instructed lawyers to take action against the London-based businessman (who has a background in real estate and finance).
