U.S. women's national team and Tottenham forward Alex Morgan has backed the action taken by San Diego Loyal head coach Landon Donovan, who led his team off the pitch on Wednesday after a homophobic slur was allegedly used against an openly gay player.
During a USL match, a Phoenix Rising player allegedly used the slur against Loyal player Collin Martin, prompting Donovan's side to leave the pitch in protest after halftime.
Though they were leading 3-1 in the match, the Loyal forfeited the game by deciding to leave the field.
