U.S. women continue to leave NWSL as Heather O’Reilly signs with Arsenal Ladies

The veteran midfielder becomes the third U.S. woman to go overseas recently, joining the London-based club on an 18-month deal.

Olympic and Women's World Cup champion Heather O'Reilly has signed with Arsenal Ladies FC, the club announced Wednesday.

O'Reilly, the eighth-most capped player in U.S. women’s national team history, joins the London-based club on an 18-month deal. She played last season with FC Kansas City of the NWSL.

"Having come over to Arsenal last year to train, I was very impressed with the club,” O'Reilly told the club’s official website. “The facilities are world class and they have a tradition of excellence at the club that I wanted to be a part of.
