Unai Emery challenged Aston Villa to become record-breakers after they swept Luton aside to secure a 12th straight home win in the Premier League.
Not since 1983 — when they won 13 in a row at Villa Park — have Villa produced such a good sequence at home.
They now have 20 Premier League wins in the calendar year, which they bettered only in 1998, and are four points shy of leaders Tottenham.
Villa’s run began after they lost here against Arsenal in February and Emery cited that 4-2 defeat as a decisive point.
