Newcastle look set to acquire the services of Venezuelan striker Salomon Rondon on a year-long loan from West Brom, in return for Dwight Gayle, reports the Express and Star.
Rondon, who scored seven times for the Baggies last season as they were relegated to the Championship, looks set to move to St James’ Park in a swap deal with Gayle heading the other way to the Hawthorns.
Both players were left out of their respective club’s matchday squads as West Brom began life in the Championship this weekend and Newcastle faced Augsburg in a friendly.
