The FA Cup, at one point in Liverpool's history, was the holy grail; a trophy that used to shimmer in the distance but prove beyond reach.
In the first 72 years of their existence, they only contested two finals losing both to Burnley (1914) and Arsenal (1950). In 1964, though, there was feeling within Anfield that this would be the year, particularly when Liverpool were handed a home draw in the quarter-final against Swansea, who were bottom of Division Two.
A game that appeared straightforward, however, became anything of the sorts. Liverpool - who were top of Division One - trailed 2-0 at half-time.
