Steven Gerrard is set to turn down an offer from MK Dons and put his first foray into management on hold.
The Liverpool legend was contacted by Pete Winkleman, the chairman of the League One side, about the possibility of starting the next chapter of his career in Milton Keynes.
Gerrard, who is working towards securing his UEFA A licence badge, has given the approach serious consideration but, at this stage, the timing is not right for him.
Winkleman, whose side are in the relegation zone, has never been afraid of appointing young managers and has also spoken with former Manchester United star Ryan Giggs.
