Continuing Covid measures are causing frustration among some of the bigger Premier League clubs including Chelsea, who have made their feelings known.
The issue they have is that an inability to provide access to players, thanks to bubbles, is causing problems with big commercial partners. Firms who spend millions in sponsorship have time with big stars to promote their products built into their contracts and failure to provide such activity thanks to restrictions is causing unrest. The last thing clubs want to do is start paying out refunds for unfulfilled agreements.
Chelsea chief executive Guy Laurence is believed to have made the point that there appears to be a different stance from the Premier League for their own broadcasters compared to clubs’ commercial partners.
