Sir Alex Ferguson has been released from intensive care and is in recovery after undergoing emergency brain surgery, Manchester United have confirmed.
The 76-year-old drew tributes from across the world of football when his former club revealed he had been admitted to hospital on Saturday.
Ferguson underwent an emergency procedure to treat a brain haemorrhage , and spent several days in critical condition.
On Wednesday, however, the Red Devils released a statement with a positive update on the Scot's health.
"Sir Alex no longer needs intensive care and will continue rehabilitation as an inpatient," United wrote on Twitter.
