Steve Cooper has been handed a new Nottingham Forest contract just days after facing the sack in a remarkable change of heart by the club's hierarchy.
The Forest boss's future was in serious doubt at the start of the week following the 4-0 defeat at Leicester which left them bottom of the Premier League table.
It is thought the reaction of Forest fans, who chanted Cooper's name even as they were slipping to a fifth straight loss, played a part in the club's thinking.
After considering possible replacements, including former Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez, Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis decided to stick with Cooper, restoring the contract offer that was first proposed in the summer but subsequently withdrawn.
