Sheffield United are reportedly ready to become the next Premier League side to utilise the government's furlough scheme by standing down up to 50 members of full-time staff.
The Blades, according to the Sheffield Star, are set to place a number of non-footballing staff on the scheme as they try to ease pressure on finances during the coronavirus pandemic.
The report goes on to add that any staff placed on furlough - which will see the government cover 80 per cent of a salary up to £2,500 per month - will still receive a full salary, with the club keen to cover the remaining 20 per cent.
